For more than 50 years, the Cohn family has been dedicated to enriching children's lives through Camp Maplehurst . Camp Maplehurst is a coed camp located in Northern Michigan . We have campers and staff from all over the world that come back year after year! We have been in the camping industry for well over 50 years and we strongly believe no matter what camp you choose, summer camp is the greatest opportunity you can give a child! Choosing a summer camp for your child is a major decision!

Which camp is right for my child? Nowadays, an active adventure for children is extremely important! We are a smaller overnight camp that offers us the opportunity to get to know every camper. We feel that it is important for every staff member to know every single child at camp! We and our staff, eat, sleep, and breathe camp. Why can't everyday be like a day at Camp Maplehurst!

Camp Maplehurst is a place where children make life-long friends. This happens in a way that can not happen anywhere else. Camp is very different from school in this manner. When children go to camp, they are living on their own. Often, for the very first time they are the ones deciding what to wear, what to have for lunch, and which activity to go to that afternoon. Obviously their counselors are there helping them to make these decisions, but our campers learn that they can make decisions on their own. We believe that this helps them build self confidence and learn to become more independent.

Children choose which activities they personally want to go to 4 out of 5 activity periods during the day. The other activity is a group activity in which they choose an activity as a cabin. By allowing the children to choose what they want to do, it allows for greater of growth in activities and skills. A child's ability to learn greatly increases when they are doing an activity they have chosen to do.

We have an unbelievable summer in store!!  We look forward to seeing you and sharing this very special place that is Camp Maplehurst.

Sincerely,

Laurence and Brenda Cohn
